Charme And More Candle Care
Candle Etiquette 101
Always place candles on a heat resistant surface. Keep burning candles away from any flammable objects, out of reach of children and pets. Do not trim wick(s) when lighting your candle for the first time, after burning your candle for the first time, trim wick ¼ to ½ inch before lighting again.
A burning candle should never be left unattended, keep candle in sight at all times. Avoid burning candles in any area with draft for a more even burn. Allowing your candle to liquefy to the entire circumference of the vessel before extinguishing will prevent tunneling. Burn candles 2-4 hours minimum before extinguishing. The larger the circumference of the vessel that houses the candle, the longer it will take the candle to liquify to the entire circumference of the vessel. If your candle begins to smoke, it is an indication that the wick is too long… extinguish the wick and wait for the wax to solidify before trimming the wick and relighting.
The effects temperature has on your candle:
Prolonged exposure of candles to temperature below 40 degrees F, may cause the wax to crack. Prolonged exposure of candles to temperatures above 80 degrees F. will cause the wax to soften.
